ALGEBRA 2

Building on the work completed in Algebra 1 with linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, students extend their repertoire of functions to include polynomial, rational, and radical functions. Students will work closely with the expressions that define the functions, and continue to expand and hone their abilities to model situations and to solve equations, including solving quadratic equations over the set of complex numbers and solving exponential equations using the properties of logarithms.

Algebra II A Course Outline:

2.  Polynomial Functions
3.  Rational Functions & Radical Functions

Algebra II B Course Outline:

4.  Exponential & Logarithmic Functions

5.  Representations of Functions

On https://saugatuckps.schoology.com you will find all of the section lessons that are used in the classroom each day on PowerPoint.  You will also find the daily assignments and any resources that will help you succeed in this class.  Parents can gain access to their students' Schoology account by going to  https://sites.google.com/saugatuckps.com/parent-tech-box/schoology.

Classwork and homework will be assigned daily.  Be sure to keep up with the assignments since it will help you prepare for the quizzes and unit tests.  If you are absent, you are responsible to get the assignments and complete them in a timely manner.

A graphing calculator will be needed for this course.  All in-class examples will be displayed on a TI-83 Plus.
Desmos (a free downloadable graphing calculator app) can also be used.

Grades will be weighted as follows:
Unit Tests & Projects –   40%   (50% of the MP grade)
Chapter Quizzes –           24%   (30% of the MP grade)
CW & HW –                       16%   (20% of the MP grade)
Final Exam – 20%

Class attendance is essential to success.  If you do miss a class, it is your responsibility to make up the material and make sure your work is turned in on time.
