Overview: Dave Ramsey's Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum teaches students how to avoid debt, budget with intention, invest, and build wealth so they can give like no one else.


Course Objectives
Personal Finance will teach you how to:

  • Save money and build wealth

  • Negotiate great deals

  • Establish a budget that works

  • Identify and understand different types of investments

  • Set and achieve financial and career goals

  • Describe the many dangers of debt

  • Recognize the advantages of renting and owning a home

  • Become an aware consumer

  • Understand different types of insurance and what’s best for you

   3. Wealth Building and College Savings             9. Relating with Money
   4. Dangers of Debt                                              10. Career Choices and Taxes
   5. Consumer Awareness                                    11. Ins and Outs of Insurance
   6. Credit Bureaus and Collection Practices      12. Real Estate and Mortgages

 

Calculators: A simple calculator will work for this class. You will find all other programs needed
online using the links provided in class.

 

Classwork & Homework: Class activities and homework will be assigned daily. Be sure to keep up
with the assignments since it will help you prepare for the chapter quizzes and unit tests. If you are
absent, you are responsible to get the assignments and complete them in a timely manner.

 

Grades: Grades will be weighted as follows:

  • Unit Tests & Projects – 50%

  • Chapter Quizzes – 20%

  • In-Class Activities – 10%

  • Final Exam – 20%

 

Attendance: Class attendance is essential to success. If you do miss a class, it is your responsibility to
make up the material and make sure your work is turned in on time.
